Shaping Canada's Vast Musical Landscape

CNCM Programs

The CNCM holistic approach blends traditional teaching techniques with innovative, expert-developed methods, encouraging student skill development from performance etiquette to theory. While maximizing curriculum as well as creative flexibility, CNCM provides teachers and students with a more engaging program than most comparable organizations.

CNCM currently offers four separate practical examination streams. Graded Piano Performance, a  unique format, offers candidates and teachers the experience of preparing recital programs shared with an audience; Graded Piano Workshop, a more traditional format, involves a general conclusive discussion with student, teacher and parent. Music for Everyone Programs for young students to young-at-heart students in two different streams. Finally, Piano Pedagogy, a teacher-focused program, offers five diplomas ranging from Early Childhood Music Education to Senior Fellowships.

In addition to its examination streams, CNCM also offers interactive programming. Coaching Classes,  offer a new learning experience for piano students enabling them to work directly with CNCM examiners and adjudicators. Whereas Composers & Kids brings Canadian composers to students in their own communities enabling knowledge transfer in a relaxed and inspiring environment.

Over 5,000 CNCM examinations have been taken since its inception in 2002 and hundreds of participants have enrolled in their  programs.
